MCNA would like to inform our Iowa network providers that updated fee schedules are now available for Iowa Dental Wellness Plan (DWP) and DWP Kids. The updated fees are effective March 1, 2026. Please read our provider bulletin to learn more.

A new version of the Iowa Dental Wellness Plan (DWP) Provider Manual went into effect on January 1, 2026, and is now available to view and download. For an overview of the updates in this version, please refer to the Revision History located in the front of the manual. You can download a copy of the new Iowa Provider Manual at https://manuals.mcna.net/iowa.

The American Dental Association (ADA) has released the 2026 version of the Current Dental Terminology (CDT) dental procedure code manual. Please read our provider bulletin for the full list of the dental services benefit changes that have been made to support updates applicable to the Iowa Medicaid dental program.

MCNA's has updated our Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and they are are now available for your office. Our approved CPGs can be downloaded from the Support and Downloads page in the Provider Portal and from MCNA's website under Guides and Tools.

MCNA has added the American Dental Association Guide to Claims Submission: Scaling and Root Planing to the provider resources listed under the News and Resources section of our website. This helpful tool provides guidance to your team and detailed instructions for accurate claim documentation, including:

• How to record attachment loss

• Sample charts

• Common reasons for claim denials

• Guiding values for treating dentists

• Examples of good and poor radiographs

Effective October 1, 2025, orthodontic treatment approvals transitioned from the Salzmann Evaluation Index (SEI) to a more streamlined and standardized system based on Automatic Qualifying Conditions (AQCs). Please read MCNA's provider bulletin for more information and links to important materials from Iowa Health and Human Services.
